Bring Me A Shrubbery
Do NOT actually bring a shrubbery. Roger the Shrubber will not be at the Smackdown this month.

It’s time for the July PFS Smackdown at Valhalla’s Gate in Columbia, Missouri! Once again we will gather and enjoy the camaraderie that only tabletop role-playing can bring us. This month’s scenarios are all First Edition Pathfinder Society and are being ran by GMs going to this year’s Gen Con in August. They are gaining a bit more experience running games and learning rules in preparation not only for the big con, but also the con before THE CON! That’s right! They will also be running sessions at QuinCon 34 in Quincy, Illinois July 19-21.  So, let’s help them out and play in their sessions to give them a great group of players to learn from.

This month we have both parts of a 2 part story, an electrifying scenario from Season 9, and part two of a 3 part story arc which is being ran over June, July, and August. In the 11:00 AM slot we have 2-01: Before the Dawn, Part 1: The Bloodcove Disguise and 9-12: Shrine of the Sacred Tempest.

Our 3:00 PM time slot features the second and final part of 2-02: Before the Dawn, Part 2: Rescue at Azlant Ridge and the second of the three part story arc 3-11: The Quest for Perfection, Part 2: On Hostile Waters.

All four of these scenarios are engaging and fun to play. Sign ups are available right now at our Warhorn page. I really hope to see you there. Think of this event as a warm up before you go to the con before the CON – QuinCon 34, and then onward to THE CON of CONS – GEN CON 2019!

Upcoming Events! Yes, we have a busy schedule for your gaming delight! Not only will we have PFS Smackdown in July, but we also have QuinCon 34 which is shaping up to be bigger than ever. Right now there are 35 sessions planned…well, let the flyer do the talking!

That’s right! We have plenty of GMs!

This con keeps getting bigger and bigger for Pathfinder players! Plus it has Starfinder! Not only that, but there’s even D&D 5e Adventurer’s League games there too. Come on up to Quincy and level some characters before you go to Gen Con. Sign up here at the QuinCon 34 Warhorn page.

Yes, you can still sign up to go to Gen Con 2019. You can also volunteer to GM at it. The time window to volunteer runs through July 14th. This is my second year of doing it and I had a blast last year. I am really looking forward to going again this year.

When we get back from Gen Con, we’re having the August PFS Smackdown on August 10th at Valhalla’s Gate. This will be the first Pathfinder Second Edition scenarios ran at PFS Smackdown and maybe even in Missouri. I’m going to run two sessions that day and give some prospective GMs a view of what is going on as well as the players. I know a few GMs want to give it a play run before they start GMing it. The materials for the new edition are already available for pre-order through Paizo. Check with your VG staff for what they plan to offer. The edition debuts August 1st. Don’t worry, we will also be running First Edition as well that day and for a long time to come. Sign ups are already available on the Warhorn page.

Finally, as we all know (and me all too damn well), I had a heart attack last year on August 6th in Columbia. I was blessed and survived what has killed far too many people I knew. I don’t normally celebrate my birthday, but this year I am planning to as I almost didn’t get to be present at last year’s birthday. So, on August 24th I’m hosting a birthday party with cake (maybe ice cream) at the Quincy Mall in Quincy, Illinois in conjunction with the Absalom Lodge Conclave where we will run more Pathfinder Second Edition scenarios along with First Edition and Starfinder.

Come on to Quincy that day and help me celebrate my double nickel or boring speed limit birthday by playing some Pathfinder Second Edition, eating some cake, and just having a great time hanging out with your fellow gamers. Sign ups are already available on the Warhorn page.
