The October PFS Smackdown had its first Character Creation Seminar yesterday as 15 players sat down with the worksheets, character sheets, 0-Chronicle Faction sheets, and the Pathfinder Second Edition Core Rulebook or CRB. Everyone built a brand new PFS2 legal character and then played them in the first quest released for PFS2, The Sandstone Secret. We had a great turnout and I want to say thank you to everyone for coming. We will probably run this every three to four months depending on how many new players we have showing up to play.
I do have all of the materials linked in the Resources section for anyone to use. Feel free to use them to help others build their PFS2 characters. You can also use any of the PFS2 quests or scenarios with them. The main thing is to help others build their characters so they can enjoy the fun we are enjoying.
We had three tables for the second time slot and every table was done before 6:30 PM. Our goal of only seating five players per table seems to be helping out with getting done in under four hours.
Right now I am building the schedule for the November 9th PFS Smackdown. Until further notice, all PFS Smackdowns will be on the second Saturday of the month. I know we hit MU Homecoming as well as some players had a previous commitment lined up. No matter what weekend we select somebody is always going to miss out. I haven’t figured a way around that yet. By setting the second Saturday as the steady day we should have more continuity. We also avoid the problems with various store events which seem to be scheduled more often than not on the first Saturday of the month.
Also, one of the Venture Agents in Quincy created a Discord channel for us to use. The link only lasts 24 hours, so if you have an expired link, just ask for a new one and we’ll get it to you. The Discord channel has a lot more capabilities for instant communications, both text and voice. It can be downloaded on your smartphone (at least I know it can for Android). I use Discord all the time. We can use it for planning events and impromptu sessions. It’s there so please use it. That’s what it’s for. I will be posting the link on the FB page often.
Thanks again for coming and I am looking forward to running The Fall of Plaguestone for five players to investigate next month. I know 1-04 Bandits of Immenwood, 1-06 Lost on the Spirit Road, and possibly 1-05 Trailblazer’s Bounty will be offered next month along with 6-16 The Golden Guardian for the PFS1 folks. Hey, if you are wanting us to schedule some PFS1 sessions, let us know. Same for Starfinder. We’ll schedule what people want, but we will also need GMs to do this with. It all comes down to what you want!
