It’s an Iobarian Smackdown on December 11th at Valhalla’s Gate!

Greetings fellow Pathfinders! Another flip of the calendar shows me we’ve reached December and the final PFS Smackdown of 2021. We had explored participating in a larger multi-table special event with a few other lodges, but the others have decided to move their tables to online with Cayden’s Keg, one of the online Pathfinder Lodges instead. Therefore, we are going to offer some scenarios we have not had in Columbia as of yet. 2-01 Citadel of Corruption (1-4) starts the Season 2 metaplot. I’ve ran it multiple times and it is just a very interesting scenario, to say the least. We will feature that one in the first time slot at 11 AM.

In our second time slot, starting at 3 PM, we will offer 2-15 A Dirge for Sarkoris (3-6). I can’t say anything about it because it is one of the few scenarios I have not played or ran for Second edition yet. David Gilbert of Quincy will be manning the GM’s chair for this table. I have the Valhalla’s Gate Warhorn set up for you to sign up at.

I have been informed by multiple players that they are not going to be able to attend this Smackdown due to various reasons. There is no one overall reason, but rather a lot of different ones. This has always been one of the iffy months for Smackdown. When we first restarted it, we did not schedule a December Smackdown until 2019 with Second Edition’s popularity. Obviously, we couldn’t play in 2020’s December, so here we are in 2021. Three of us will be driving two hours to make this event, so if we don’t have 4 players signed up for both tables plus the GM, I am going to have to postpone the games until January of 2022. This is why signing up on Warhorn is so important for us. Again, December is pretty hit or miss, so if we have to cancel it, that’s fine.

I will pass on some news to everyone before wishing everyone a Merry Christmas. Guns & Gears has been sanctioned for PFS2 along with Lost Omens: The Grand Bazaar. I posted some information on this in the blog which you can access here. I also posted about a new project that some of us are involved with up in the Quincy area for D&D 5th Edition called the Tri-States Realms of Quincy. This is still in its infancy and being adjusted.

For anyone who wants to come to Quincy, we will be post of a multi-lodge collaboration to play 2-00 The King in Thorns (1-2) (3-6 maybe) on December 4th at our Absalom Lodge holiday conclave. This is the first multi-table special for PFS2 and it was featured at Gen Con Online in 2020. It can be played 3 times using different characters in different tiers. If anyone wants to learn more about this event or to sign up for it, you can read more about it here. This event should fire off as several players have told me they are coming.

I do know that sanctioning for the December Lost Omens releases should be available on the day of release or very close to it. I have done my evaluation of Lost Omens: Absalom, City of Lost Omens and it is one of the most detailed city books I have seen in 40 years of playing RPGs. It’s got more content than the old Judge’s Guild city sets for the City-State of the Invincible Overlord and City-State of the World Emperor. It has 402 pages and fleshes out the city of Absalom along with giving plenty of adventure hooks for developing your own adventures.

Other than that, I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas or Happy Holiday! I am glad we were finally able to return to live play and hope we are able to continue that in 2022. There are a lot of things happening and we just have to deal with them as best as we can. I hope to see some of you either on the 4th or the 11th or even both! If I do not see you this month, I definitely am looking forward to rolling the d20 with you in 2022.
