Väl mött, äventyrare! Once again, we are assembling at Valhalla’s Gate in Columbia on Saturday, May 14th to play some Pathfinder awesomeness! Here is the Warhorn page link to sign up for this month’s games. Remember, the Pathfinder and Starfinder Organized Play groups never charge a fee for gaming. The only fee is the one charged by Valhalla’s Gate for use of their gaming center. We are currently on the Road to QuinCon 35 which will be in Quincy, Illinois on July 15-17 this year. I will put a special post up on it next week. But first, let’s see what we are playing this month at Valhalla’s Gate!

Our first offering will be 1-12 Burden of Envy (Tiers 1-4) from Season One in the first time slot at 11:00 AM. Swindler, rogue, and occasional Pathfinder ally Guaril Karela has approached the Society with an opportunity that Valais Durant, the leader of the Society’s Radiant Oath faction, can’t refuse. Guaril has been charging refugees to sneak them out of Xin Edasseril, a city ruled by the Runelord of Envy, and now it looks like Guaril won’t be able to fulfill his contracts. Society agents are charged with sneaking into the dangerous city and sneaking out with a handful of its citizens before their absence is noticed so that the Radiant Oath can help them find new lives beyond their current ruler’s tyrannical reach.

In the second slot which starts at 3:00 PM we will offer 1-23 Star-Crossed Court (3-6R). This scenario is the sequel to 1-09 which we ran last month, but was designed to stand on its own as was 1-09. It is a repeatable scenario for the 3-5 tiers. In fact, it is the first 3-6 tier scenario for Second Edition.
On an idyllic island of the western coast of Garund, the PCs arrive at the iruxi city of Ekkeshikaar. Seeking to establish new trade relations between the lizardfolk of Ekkeshikaar and the people of Vidrian, the Pathfinder Society must navigate a delicate political landscape while thwarting the efforts of nefarious forces who seek to stop the proposed alliance by any means necessary.
We were not sure what scenario to offer in the first time slot alongside 1-12. We’ve got a crew that needs to finish the Lower Level of the Beginner Box, so we’re going to reserve that for them if we have enough players for it. This is also the Spring Commencement weekend for the University of Missouri and that is definitely going to play havoc with everyone’s schedule. May is graduation month every weekend! Don’t worry though! We have plenty of gaming for you if you come to play. I am going to bring the Starfinder Beginner Box as well since we have plans to kickstart Starfinder Society throughout the region after QuinCon 35.

Now, onto some really good news! Valhalla’s Gate announced on May 7th that they are no longer requiring masks in the store. They are recommending people wear them, but they are not requiring them. The Organized Play program which oversees our activities advises all participants to get vaccinated and boosted, as well as encouraging those who wish to do so to wear masks, but does not require either. The venture-officers of the League of Aroden (us) strongly urge you to get vaccinated, but do not require it. If you do prefer to wear a mask, by all means, please do so. We have absolutely no problems with anyone protecting themselves from Covid and other airborne diseases. Please use common sense at all times with this disease and any others. If you are sick, do the smart thing and stay home while seeking medical attention as needed.

There are two products coming out for Pathfinder and Starfinder this month which should have some great content for players. They are the Lost Omens: Knights of Lastwall and Starfinder: Drift Crisis. Both books are on my purchase list! They come out on May 25th and are in the warehouse! Subscribers have already been alerted that they are receiving the books and shipping will begin early next week. I will get a post up on these and other Paizo products coming out at the end of the month.

That brings us to PaizoCon 2022. This year will be the resumption of the live convention, but they are also continuing the online portion of the convention which means this is the first time PaizoCon has been in this hybrid form. This convention is May 27-30th. The live portion was sold out immediately because they were honoring the 2020 tickets from the cancelled convention and are offering a reduced size convention. You can sign up for it here on their Warhorn page and also check out all the various tables they are offering. I am running my usual 8 games online for it (and earning 80 AcP for that). The signup period has begun and I think the total cost for the online portion of the con is $25. It has a lot of free giveaways and is the best online convention I’ve been involved with.
That’s all I have for you today other than to remind you about our local convention in Quincy on July 15-17. We are really looking forward to a great convention with a lot of people from the League as well as the other lodges in Missouri, Illinois, and surrounding states. We’ve had some pretty good attendance at it the last two times it was held. This will be the first time it has been back since 2019, so we are really gearing up for record attendance!

See you at the tables on Saturday, May 14th!
