Back again by popular demand! Last year’s Black Friday at Tri-States Games & Hobbies in Quincy, Illinois was a blast. We had a good turnout and everyone enjoyed getting together and playing some games. We’re going to do it again this year in lieu of our regularly scheduled Absalom Lodge Conclave which would normally be the fourth Saturday of the month. That always hits on Thanksgiving weekend, so there’s no point in scheduling a formal event. Same goes for December and Christmas which is why we always have a Holiday Conclave in early December for the Absalom Lodge.
But some of us want to do something on Black Friday. We don’t want to play online. We don’t want to watch football. We don’t want to stand in endless lines with a horde of shoppers fighting for a stupid toy when we do most of our shopping online anyway! Instead, we want to roll the d20! Tri-States will be open, so let’s go have some fun doing what we love to do…slaughter player characters, er I mean play Pathfinder!
So, here’s the plan. The overall goal of Black Friday is to have fun gaming. We will offer Open Gaming from Noon to 4:00 PM. Anyone who wants to run something can let me know and I’ll put it on Warhorn for signups. I want to play a game too, so that’s when I plan to play with someone else GMing.
I am going to run 3-10 Delve the Pallid Depths (1-4) at 4:00 PM for the first six players who sign up for it on Warhorn. If another GM wants to run it as well, they can let me know and I’ll put them on the schedule. If somebody wants to run something else instead, they can let me know and I’ll put it on the schedule. Oh yeah, this also earns bonus Achievement Points for everyone who participates in Society events this day.
We can even pass the hat and order some pizza if you all want to do that. Either way, those of us who want to get together and roll the d20 can do it on Black Friday, November 25th.
Just a FYI for December – We will be participating in a national multi-table charity event benefiting Toys for Tots on December 10th. We have to start playing by 2:00 PM, so we will begin to assemble at 1:30 PM. I am running the entire event’s technical Twitch feed from Tri-States as the House GM. Lodges are signing up to be part of this event across the country right now. We did this last year and had a great time. This year we are opening it up to more regions and stores in our own area, so let’s make it a great event and buy plenty of toys for kids via Toys for Tots!
