Happy Holidays to everybody! For 2022 all of the lodges in the League of Aroden are participating in the Toys of Boundless Wonder charity event which benefits Toys for Tots during the holiday season. There are two phases of this event which players should know about. The first phase takes place from 11/25 through 12/11. All games ran at a Friendly Local Game Store (FLGS) where donations are made to Toys for Tots qualify to be reported via the Toys of Boundless Wonder event code.

The second phase will take place on December 10th when lodges around the United States participate in a live run of the 3-98 Expedition into Pallid Peak (1-6) at FLGS around the nation. This scenario is known as a multi-table special (MTS) and is usually only ran at conventions or special events where multiple tables can be ran at the same venue. Last year we ran a MTS between the Absalom and the Northern Virginia lodges and it went very well. This year, your Venture-Captains had bigger plans!

Nicholas Ruchlewicz, VC of NoVa, and I decided to take our small event and super-size it. We created a plan to conduct the MTS in multiple locations which is possible via our modern technology. Once we had it ready, we approached the head of Paizo’s Organized Play, Alex Speidel, and asked for some support. Alex secured that from Paizo and extended the official blessing of Org Play which includes the bonus Achievement Points we are earning by running and playing Pathfinder and Starfinder this holiday season for sessions that meet the criteria for the event.
Now, this is where you come in. Normally we are operating on a reduced level during the holiday season as it is extremely difficult to get players and GMs together in enough numbers to justify planning our regular lodge events. But, we can usually plan for one event if we sweeten the pot enough! Well, on December 10th, I’m sweetening the plot quite a bit. First of all as I’ve already stated, we have bonus Achievement Points. Second, you get a chance to play a multi-table special which you usually cannot play unless you go to a convention. Third, you also get a chance to “bend” the rules a bit with special purchases during the game which go to purchasing toys for Toys for Tots. I have a pretty active imagination, so bonus Hero Points, changing crit fails to regular fails, and making the GM use a different die instead of their killer d20 have already been in play. Making the GM roll two d20s for special situations and taking the low roll is also possible, but only for a price!
Now, that’s a wild way to play and the only way you’re going to get to do it is by participating in the December 10th MTS tables. I’ve got a sign-up sheet on each lodge’s Warhorn page that is participating. Right now, that is the Absalom Lodge in Quincy and Gryffyn Flight in Hannibal. There is a GM willing to run a table of this in Columbia, but as of right now we don’t think there are enough players there. We ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE you sign up for this on the Warhorn pages so we have enough GMs. If we don’t have the sign ups, we will not have additional tables for this event.

I have a GM in Hannibal and 2 GMs in Quincy. We have many more GMs in Quincy that will run a table of this MTS if we get the players signed up in advance. I myself will be serving in the role of House GM which means I am running the entire event and feeding information on the adventure’s overall progress to everyone. The MTS runs work based on how each table deals with the encounters in the scenario. We can only advance the scenario when enough table nationwide overcome enough of the various encounters. You really are working together. You will be able to keep track of all of this via our Twitch feed which we hope will be running on monitors or laptops at each location.

Let’s remember that this is all about having fun and helping others less fortunate. All funds raised and toys purchased will go to the local lodge’s Toys for Tots campaign. Last year we had over $150 worth of toys bought at Tri-States Games & Hobbies at the last minute. This year we are hoping to build on that and increase our participation in the event. This is a great chance for you to help others. Plus, we help our FLGS and our gaming communities. The kids who get these toys might be the next generation of players.
If you can’t participate due to scheduling conflicts, please consider donating to the Toys for Tots campaign. You can arrange to purchase toys through the FLGS or contribute funds which we will use to buy toys through our combined funds. I’ve already asked for more Pathfinder Core Rulebooks and Beginner Boxes to be available. But, other toys are certainly welcome to be added to the overall campaign. We are all in this together and anything you wish to contribute will be appreciated. We are not charging a fee to play and no one is required to donate. If you can, please do. If you cannot, please play anyway. You’re welcome at our tables no matter what!

I want to thank you for your participation in our events throughout the year. I hope you will participate in our December 10th MTS run of 3-98 Expedition into Pallid Peak (1-6). Here is the listing for the scenario.
A Pathfinder Society Special designed for 1st- through 6th-level characters (subtiers 1-4 & 3-6).
Having made several recent forays into a set of unearthed ruins in the volcanic region of Droskar’s Crag, the Pathfinder Society has uncovered what could be an access point to the lost dwarven city of Raseri Kanton. Pathfinder agents from across Golarion have come to support the Society’s latest large-scale endeavor. However, the Aspis Consortium have also begun exploring the ruins, so it’s a race to see who can reach Raseri Kanton first!
This adventure can be played for credit twice, each time with a different PC, regardless of level range. Likewise, a GM can apply credit for running this adventure up to two times to a different PC in a level range of their choice.
Again, you must sign up on the Warhorn page for your lodge in order to participate. I cannot offer tables of this MTS unless we have the players signed up ahead of time. If you run into problems or wish to donate through our event, please contact me at leagueofaroden@gmail.com and I will work with you.
Let’s have a great holiday season and help others. It’s good for them and it’s good for you. It’s good for all of us!
