Flowers in May

Last month we had April Showers, so this month we will have May Flowers! Let’s take a look at the gaming events taking place in the League of Aroden for the month of May. Remember that everyone is welcome at our gaming events and that you can always bring a friend. We have scenarios suitable for new players at every event this month!

First up is the weekly gaming at Game Arena in Hannibal. Gryffyn Flight’s lodge members gather every Thursday night at 6 PM to roll dice and enjoy tabletop gaming awesomeness. Lately, we’ve grown to two tables and are looking at adding a third table as our lodge continues to grow. This month, we are going to continue to offer tables of Crown of the Kobold King every week for one of the two teams playing it. We are alternating that and Pathfinder Society tables for each team until we finish it off. Right now, we are in Chapter 3. Don’t worry! There’s a PFS2e table every Thursday night. Click the links to go to the Warhorn page for that table and sign up.

Down in Columbia, Missouri, we are having our monthly PFS Smackdown at Valhalla’s Gate on May 13th. Currently, two tables of gaming will be running. We have the 2-09 The Seven Secrets of Dacilane Academy (1-4) and 3-16 Escape from Oppara (3-6). Both are fun tables that will entertain players as they work together to accomplish their missions. We begin to assemble at 11 AM and usually get tables rolling around 11:30 AM.

In 2-09, Dacilane Academy, located near the Grand Lodge, is a storied institution that sees to the education of many children of Pathfinders. However, the academy’s benefactor, J Dacilane, has recently heard rumors from his students of seven strange phenomena manifesting on campus. Despite his doubts that these are simply the imaginings of students raised on Pathfinder tales, J has called in a favor with the Pathfinder Society to investigate—both to put his students’ minds at ease and for the good learning opportunity a Society report about the school would provide. But are there more to these urban legends than meets the eye?

Not to be outdone, in 3-16, in the city of Oppara, the Pathfinder Society has been investigating a recent crime spree that targeted the assets and allies of Grand Princess Eutropia, Taldor’s new monarch who came to power following the War for the Crown. The Society has learned of the group responsible for these crimes, but it has more work to do if it’s going to untangle the web of deception and get to the heart of the treasonous conspiracy. Gloriana Morilla, a trusted ally and former Pathfinder leader, has concocted a plan to draw out the Society’s enemies. For her plan to work, she’s going to need agents who are willing to take some risks, as there’s no telling what sinister forces might be responsible for the recent crimes in Oppara.

The plan starts like this: first, try to flee the city… but make sure they see you doing it! Escape from Oppara is part of the ongoing metaplot arc in the Year of Shattered Sanctuaries.

Up in downtown Kirksville, Missouri, we are meeting at the First Presbyterian Church at 1 PM on May 20th where we will offer 4-01 Intro: Year of Boundless Wonder (1-4R). This is a repeatable scenario meaning players may play it multiple times using different characters each time.

Wonder abounds! The Pathfinder Society’s vaults have suddenly received a huge treasure trove of precious items from around the world and beyond. Much remains mysterious about these objects, from their origins to the reason the trove’s original owner was so desperate to be rid of it. A group of novice agents has the opportunity to explore the troves’ wonders for themselves, but not all is as it seems. After being drawn into an otherworldly realm, they must use their wits and fight to escape with their lives!

Intro: Year of Boundless Wonder is the introduction to the plot of the Year of Boundless Wonder. This scenario presents treasures, characters, and themes that will feature in Year 4’s metaplot, and so it is is a natural starting point for players looking to jump into the action.

Usually we have the Absalom Lodge Conclave on the fourth Saturday of the month, but this year it falls on Memorial Day. Due to prior commitments and the holiday, we are not going to hold Conclave this month. We feel the turnout would be extremely low. But wait! You can still play Pathfinder Society that weekend!

Yes, that’s right! Paizo is holding their annual PazioCon over Memorial Day Weekend. Four game packed days of online gaming awesomeness! Yours truly will be running tables online via Foundry as part of the event for the 4th year in a row. This event is open to everyone. I’ll just post the blog information here.

Are you ready for the return of PaizoCon Online 2023? Join us Memorial Day weekend, May 26th–29th, as we once again bring events to your screen with an amazing long weekend of panels, giveaways, and, of course, gaming!

If you’re new to Pathfinder or Starfinder, PaizoCon is an annual weekend-long event where we celebrate our team, our community, gaming, and all things Paizo! The entirety of this year’s convention is online. This year things will be slightly different: parts of the show you know and love will remain free, but we’ll also be having a ticketed event with community-run games and activities at the same time!

How it works: After purchasing your ticket, please navigate to your E-tickets page to add your Discord (name#numbers) and Warhorn email, so we can add the “Ticket Purchaser” role in our Paizo Events Server and Warhorn, which will give you access to sign up for games on Warhorn.

Game sign-ups: Both Organized Play and Open Play games will be available on April 17 through Warhorn. Stay tuned!

PaizoCon livestreams: We’ll be providing the full schedule of online Twitch and Discord panels soon, including Erik Mona’s annual opening keynote.

Friday art portfolio reviews: The opening Friday of PaizoCon, the Paizo art team is offering portfolio reviews on a first-come, first-served basis. Stay tuned for more information and registration!

PaizoCon is a lot of fun. I like Gen Con more, but that’s because I go to it. Speaking of conventions, we’ve got one coming up in Quincy on July 14-16th. I have initial information out for GMs right now. Once I have some more people lined up to run games, I’ll get them over to the QuinCon folks and we’ll start the signup process. If you are interested in GMing at QuinCon, just let me know at leagueofaroden@gmail.com and I will work with you on it. I will have a blog post on this later in the week.

I hope to see you at one of our gaming tables this month or at PaizoCon online!
